About the speaker: Ambassador John Veroneau is a partner in the Washington, DC office of Covington & Burling LLP.  As vice-chair of the International Practice Group, he provides legal and strategic advice to clients with global interests.

He recently served as Deputy United States Trade Representative (USTR) where he had broad supervisory responsibilities over US trade policy. He previously served as USTR’s General Counsel, responsible for US trade law and litigation activities.

Ambassador Veroneau was also confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as an Assistant Secretary of Defense in President Clinton’s Administration. He has extensive Legislative Branch experience as well, having served as Legislative Director to Senator Bill Cohen and then Majority Leader Bill Frist and Chief of Staff to Senator Susan Collins.
